Dr Penelope Tympanidis

Dr. Tympanidis is a Consultant Dermatologist, working privately in Londons’ Harley street. She is a pioneer in minimally invasive antiageing techniques for the last eleven years.

Dr. Tympanidis has been a Consultant in Dermatology at Mayday University Hospital in London, till May 2004. She has been a Clinical Research Registrar at the Department of Dermatology UCL/Middlesex Hospitals and the Royal Free/UCL Medical School Campus till March 2002.

Dr. Tympanidis holds the title of “Specialist in Dermatology and Venereology”, obtained in the EU, equivalent to CCST title of “Specialist in Dermatology”, in the UK.


Positions held


Dr. Tympanidis has been Dermatology- orientated since a medical student. Upon completion of her medical degree (110 Laude diploma) at the University of Rome, she obtained a Scholarship Award from the University of Rome in 1992, spent at the New England Medical Center, Tufts’ University Dermatology Department, on the cutaneous surgery course and subsequent clinical attachment.

She then worked for three years in general and acute medicine posts, followed by appointments in dermatology.

She has worked in various busy dermatology units, in Liverpool, Glasgow and London. Over a four year period, she has been working at the Department of Dermatology UCL Hospitals Trust, gaining first-hand experience in general dermatology clinics, photodermatology, allergy and patch testing, pediatric dermatology, dedicated skin cancer clinics, vulval clinics and genitourinary medicine, laser treatment sessions, dermatopathology meetings, and teaching students and General Practitioners.

She now trains junior plastic surgeons, on minimally invasive cosmetic procedures, and junior dermatologists on cutaneous surgery. She works privately in Central London and regulary contributes on periodicals  (Elle, Vogue, Sunday Times, Evening Standard, Telegraph) as well as TV programs regarding cutting edge minimally invasive cosmetic procedures and anti-ageing.


Research


•    Study on Medical Diploma thesis on “ Percutaneous Transluminal Renal Arterioplasty: The Italian experience and follow-up in thirteen years”.

•    Skin surface prophilometry, for the accurate and reproducible follow-up of skin lesions, and leg ulcers (ongoing).

•    Research study and MD thesis on “Innervation changes of the vulval vestibule in patients with vulvodynia”.
